In a hard-fought match, the Oxnard College Men's Soccer team secured a vital 1-0 victory over LA Mission College, clinching a spot in the 3C2A State Playoffs. The Condors now await the final details of their playoff schedule, with the possibility of hosting a game either next Wednesday, November 20 at 2:00 PM or Saturday, November 23 at 2:00 PM. Tickets for the games are charged by the 3C2A at $12 General Admission and $8 Students/Faculty/Staff/Seniors/Children.
The decisive moment came in the 76th minute when Jefferson Nava (https://www.instagram.com/p/DCSxYpdv6rU/) scored off an assist from Luis Villalpando, putting the Condors ahead and ultimately securing the win. Despite LA Mission being a man down for much of the second half after a red card in the 59th minute, the Eagles played hard, but Oxnard held firm, with goalkeeper Adrian Contreras making key saves to keep the Eagles off the board.
With the win, Oxnard College improves to a 13-1-4 record on the season and is now ranked #7 in Southern California based on power points. The Condors' defensive unit, anchored by Contreras and a disciplined back line, was particularly strong, allowing just eight shots on goal and earning a total of six saves.
In addition to Nava's game-winning goal, Ernesto Rodriguez and Raymond Miranda also created dangerous opportunities, with Rodriguez contributing an assist on the match-winning play.
The Condors will be looking to build on this momentum as they head into the Regional Rounds of the state playoffs. The exact time and location for Oxnard's playoff game will be determined after the seeding meeting on Monday, November 18. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates and to support the team as they aim for a deep playoff run.
"We appreciate all the support from our community and look forward to seeing our fans out at the stadium as we head into the playoffs," said AD Jonas Crawford.
The Condors final regular season game is next Friday at LA Pierce College from 3:00 PM.
