Eagles of L.A. Mission College Showcase Resilience, Finish as Consolation Bracket Winners at the 3rd Annual Kick-off Classic

Sylmar, CA - This past weekend, the Eagles of L.A. Mission College Women's Volleyball team showcased their mettle, emerging as the consolation bracket winners at the 3rd Annual Kick-off Classic hosted by the Eagles. After facing early setbacks on the first day, the Eagles regrouped and powered through their matches on day two.

The weekend began with a closely-fought match against San Bernardino Valley on September 1st, at 12:30 PM. Both teams traded sets, pushing the match to a thrilling five-setter. Despite strong efforts from the Eagles' Temple Vasquez, who managed to secure 12 kills, and Jaya Davison with an impressive 18 kills, the Eagles narrowly missed out, with a final score of 2-3.

Later that day, at 4:00 PM, L.A. Mission squared off against East Los Angeles. The Eagles started strongly, dominating the first set 25-9. However, East Los Angeles managed to turn the tables in the subsequent sets, ultimately securing a 3-1 victory.

But day two painted a different picture.

On September 2nd, 11:00 AM, L.A. Mission College displayed an impressive performance against Citrus. Temple Vasquez was in top form, making light work of the opposition with 8 kills. The Eagles wrapped up the match comfortably with a scoreline of 3-0, showing no signs of the setbacks faced the day before.

Riding high on the earlier victory, the Eagles continued their dominating run against Riverside at 4:00 PM. The team displayed cohesion and tactical acumen, sweeping the match with another 3-0 win.

Throughout the tournament, players like Temple Vasquez, Aricelli Felix, and Jaya Davison consistently performed, bolstering the team's attack. Geraldine Martinez's defensive prowess, evidenced by her 19 digs in the match against San Bernardino Valley, was also crucial for the Eagles.

The Eagles have set the tone for the season with their resilience and determination. The team, its supporters, and fans are looking forward to the upcoming matches with heightened enthusiasm.
