In doubles play #1 Alex Coons and My Kenzie Gross-Solomon lost 4-8, #2 Ariana Valiente and Giselle Reyes lost 3-8, and #3 Isabel Ortiz and Diana Henriquez won 8-2.
In singles play, #1 Valiente lost 3-6, 1-6, and #2 Coons lost 1-6, 4-6. Number 3 Gross-Soloman played a tight match with momentum swings throughout, eventually winning 7-5, 7-6(10). Number 4 Ortiz won the first set 6-3, but dropped the following two sets 3-6, 3-6. Number 5 Reyes lost the first set 1-6, then fell behind in the second 1-5. She evened the set at 5-5 before dropping the set and the match 5-7. Number 6 Henriquez won the first set 6-2 and then continued the back-and-forth theme of the day, falling behind 2-5 in the second, then won 7 straight games to take the set and match 7-5.
"We really battled today. I am very proud of the ladies and the way they fought. It was also great to see Isabel and Diana get their first win in doubles," Coach Webb stated. "We made some lineup changes, and they are really starting to gel."
The Marauders are now 2-12 overall and 1-6 in Western State Conference play. They will return to the court for a conference home match vs. College of the Canyons on Thursday, March 6th, at 2:00 PM.
