
Women's Volleyball: Bulldogs Fall in Conference Opener at Unbeaten LA Mission
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team fell on the road against undefeated LA Mission College in the Western State Conference (WSC) North opening on Friday evening. | BOX SCORE
The Bulldogs (9-2, 0-1) avoided the sweep and sent the match into four sets after winning the third frame. Final set scores on the day were 15-25, 20-25, 25-21, and 18-25. LA Mission (16-0, 2-0) put up a final team hitting performance of .244 while holding the visiting crew to a season-low number of .061. AHC also battled through some self-inflicted errors after serving up nine errors and being aced seven times.
Gifti Tefera and Jocelyn Olmstead led the way out of the middle with eight kills apiece as the pin hitters struggled to terminate. Emma Oleny and Marina Agueda combined for nine kills on the outside as the only other hitters to record multiple kills on the night. Shanyce Valadez paced the offense with 23 assists in the 5-1 structure. Freshman libero Morgan Doss recorded a team-high of 12 digs, followed by Jordyn Thomas and Alexis Albera who tallied six each.
Hancock will be back in action on Wednesday, October 9th, at home against LA Pierce. The match is set to begin at 6 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.
