Last Friday the eagles defeated Southwestern College in straight sets 25-20, 25-15 and 25-22.

Claudia Moreno led the game with a career high 17 kills.

This is Moreno’s first season as an outside hitter for the eagles after playing middle all of last year.

“Moving her to the left has been positive for the team, she’s hitting really well and working really hard and that’s nice to see as a coach”, said head coach Richard Barraza.

Middle blocker Breanna Nichols had the best hitting percentage in the match finishing at .583 off of 8 kills.

“She’s a physical middle that teams have to respect and it makes it easier for our setter to create opportunities for us to get points”, added Barraza.

This week the team is back in practice focusing managing errors and more specifically unforced errors.

The Eagles aren’t trying to overpower other teams to be successful this season; instead they just want play smart and try to beat their opponents strategically

The next match is away this Friday at 6 p.m. against Allen Hancock College in the first division match of this season.

Last season Los Angeles Mission defeated Hancock in both of their regular season matches.
