Women’s Volleyball Celebrates on Sophomore Night

The Eagles win their last game of the season Wednesday night, defeating the visiting West LA College Wildcats 3-0.

Before the match Los Angeles Mission College Honored Libero Lucy Estrada, outside hitter Claudia Moreno, and DS’ Lily Aquino and Andreinna Abreu for hard work and dedication to the program.

Mission won the first set handly 25-18 with a great team hitting percentage of just .400 with 16 kills.

West LA battled back in sets two and three but the Eagles managed to hang on and win 26-24 and 25-21.  

It was a big night for both Eagles middles who had career high hitting percentages.

Rachelle Zelada hit .800 with 4 kills off of 5 attempts and Breanna Nichols hit .514 with 15 kills off of 19 attempts.  

Mission finished the season with a respectable record of 12-8 and improved on last seasons record of 11-10.

They finished in 3rd in the Western State-East conference.

Coach Barraza has high hope for next season with the team looking at returning 7 talented players in 2017.
