The 2017 season for Men's Soccer has officially started, Tuesday, with an away game against Cuyamaca College. After a hard fought 90 minutes, game one ended in a 0-0 tie with neither team's offense able to execute.

Head Coach, Julio Castillo, was pleased with his team's first outing on the field.

"Everyone played hard and tried to create the offense we needed, and we defended well," said Castillo. In previous years the athletes struggled with playing together as a team, but this year's team is very united.

Goalkeeper, Angel Noriega, was able to keep the Eagles in the game by making numerous saves against the threatening Cuyamaca offense.

Castillo said, "Our guys just need to settle down, and relax. We created a lot of opportunity to score, but just couldn't finish. We don't need heroes, we just need to stay relaxed and play the game."

The Eagles will make those adjustments for tomorrow's game at Santiago Canyon College, kickoff at 3:00 p.m.

"Every year we are nervous for the first game, but this is a learning experience for the rest of the season. We are too good to let nerves affect us."
