Chris began playing baseball at a very young age and continued playing throughout college. He played one year at Compton College before transferring to the University of Dubuque in Iowa, where he played for two years. At Compton, Chris led the team in hitting with a .475 batting average. He continued his success with a .300 batting average at Dubuque, while also leading the team with a .997 fielding percentage. After his two-year stint at Dubuque, Chris decided to end his college baseball career near home at Whittier College. Chris finished as one of the top three hitters with a .359 batting average before enduring a season-ending knee injury.

At the age of 18, Chris began coaching his younger sister’s travel softball team alongside his father. From the moment he stepped foot on the softball field as a coach, he knew this was his passion. As a head coach, he has led three softball organizations, SFS Rebels, Nemesis, and OC United, to multiple national tournaments and other high quality tournaments. He has earned three Triple Crown championships, one Western National Championship, a 2nd place finish at ASA Nationals, and several top-10 finishes at nationals and Surf City classics. As an 18U coach, Chris has successfully sent multiple players to colleges ranging from the community college level to NCAA Div. I.  He has a strong passion for helping players develop successfully on the field and in the classroom, and leading them to a great future.

Chris received his B.A. in Exercise Science from Grand Canyon University and recently graduated from Concordia University Irvine with a Master’s Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration.  Chris is married to his wife Janae Hylland, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
